The AI Thought Leader
How to start leveraging AI in your writing process. Think. Write. Lead. - Issue #83.
I’d never thought that I would lose a client to AI.
But it happened a few months ago.
My most consistent client one day said they had no more work for me (after we had planned several months of work already).
Later I found out that they were using an AI Writing Assistant Tool to create content.
And you know what? Good for them.
If it saves them money and makes their process more efficient, that’s what they should do.
As for me, that experience was a turning point in my career.
I decided to pivot the focus of my thought leadership marketing agency and learn how to leverage AI in my writing.
All this, using a framework I call MTP.
Mindset

Process
First, you need to change your mindset. Recognize how prepared you are to embrace AI tools and how forward-thinking you are in implementing AI in your writing. One way to change your mindset is to consider the adjacent possible.
Second, you need to learn about the AI tools available, how to use them, and how effective they are.
Third, you must incorporate those tools into your writing process. This may include aspects like collaboration with AI, content scaling, accessibility, grammar and style checking, SEO optimization, plagiarism detection, content personalization, and ROI measurement.
Let’s do it…
THINK.
MINDSET:
Do you believe that leveraging AI in your writing can help you create more engaging and persuasive content? Why or why not?
Do you regularly update your knowledge of AI advancements to improve your writing?
TOOLS:
How familiar are you with the current AI tools available for content creation? Rate yourself from 1-5.
Do you use AI tools to ensure originality in your content? (Plagiarism check, AI Detector)
PROCESS:
Do you have experience using AI to generate content ideas and outlines?
Do you use AI tools to scale or speed your content production?
WRITE.
Here’s a quick exercise to help you get started with AI if you haven’t done so.
Use ChatGPT to generate ideas, outlines, or even thought leadership frameworks.
Use a tool like Content at Scale to write and SEO optimize your articles. You still have to add your own expertise, experiences, and leading thoughts, but it will save you a lot of time.
Try AI tools to create images, videos, or other multimedia assets. Midjourney is the best for images.
Note: I have paid subscriptions to ChatGPT-4, Midjourney, and more. It’s worth the investment.
LEAD.
AI technology is only going to get better in the future.
As thought leadership practitioners, we need to evolve and adapt. We need to be first movers and even early adopters of technologies that have such massive potential to change the future.
Current AI writing tools won’t become thought leaders on their own.
But you can become a more effective thought leader when you learn to leverage them in your writing and ideation process.
One day, if predictions are right, we will have Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), and not just AI chatbots that answer our prompts.
With the possibility of superintelligence being a reality one day, you must take the lead today to become an AI thought leader.
The alternative is to become irrelevant.
